    Antique French 1914 Cast Iron Horse Award Plaque for Strength & Power Competition
    Found at a French brocante in St. Cast, an antique cast iron award plaque dated 1914, awarded just before WW1 started. This antique plaque was cast for the horse society from Ile & Vilaine (a department in Brittany), awarded as the 4th prize in a strength/power competition, at a time when horses were still widely used in the fields. Large and heavy/solid; weighs 2.085 kg. No breakage with a lovely aged patina. Metal hook on the backside is firmly attached for hanging on a wall.
